# Scraping collectd metrics

We are having the requirement to scrape (import) metrics aggregated by [collectd](https://collectd.org/) into Prometheus.

The best way we found so far ist the [Prometheus collectd exporter](https://github.com/prometheus/collectd_exporter). However the last release is almost 2 years old (May 2020) and it requires the setup of collectd exporter as a component of its own.

So I was wondering if there might be a more recent and lightweight alternative.
